A Note from
the Mayor
A Note from
the Town Manager
Thank you for visiting our new and exciting website. As Mayor and lifelong resident, I have been a witness to the past, participated in it’s present, and extremely excited for our future. We would love to have you join us.
Our weather is conducive to year round outdoor activities, so there are always things to do. Our locally caught “Pamlico Sound” seafood can’t be beat.
Our Waterfront Park is visited by sportsmen throughout the State. I know you will find our citizens to be accommodating and welcoming!
Judy H. Thaanum
Vandemere Mayor

Thanks for viewing our site. Vandemere sits in the north east quadrant of Pamlico County abutting the Bay River, Vandemere Creek and Smith Creek. And yes, the fishing and boating are superb! If you love seeing wildlife, you will love Vandemere. It's not uncommon to see dolphins, pelicans, osprey, bald eagles, deer, turkey, redheaded woodpeckers, owls and more; sometimes all in the same day.
Our boating access area and waterfront park has transformed our town from a location in Pamlico County to a destination from all over the state and beyond.
We are about an hour away from Greenville, Jacksonville, Washington, Kinston, Morehead City, Beaufort and traffic congestion. I believe you will find our slower pace quite refreshing.
If you are ever down our way, stop by the office or give us a call. We would be honored to show you around. Thanks again for your time!
